Rotterdam - presentation of the ECh's 2011

The German Gymnastics Federation used the occasion of many journalists attending the World Championships in Rotterdam in order to inform about the next big event in Europe - the artistic gymnastics European Championships in Berlin from April 4th to 10th 2011.

Germany's chancellor Angela Merkel takes over the patronage                                    The president of the German Gymnastics Federation Rainer Brechtken, who is also the president of the organising committee, could present important news: "Yesterday we received a letter from the Federal Chancellery in which was confirmed that Angela Merkel takes over the patronage for the European Championships."  

The Sports Director of the German Gymnastics Federation Wolfgang Willam concentrated on the "hardware". He presented the venue Max-Schmeling-Halle and informed that the German Championships went very well there in the middle of September 2010. Furthermore he mentioned the offical media hotel for the 2011 European Championships and presented the schedule. On April 4th and 5th (Monday and Tuesday) will take place the podium training for women and men. Following after that will take place the qualifications on April 6th and 7th (Wednesday and Thursday). On Friday, April 8th, will be held both all-around finals. And the European Championships will end with the event finals on Saturday and Sunday.

Gymnastics will be transported into the city of Berlin
Like already at the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart, the award ceremonies will take place in the city centre again. For Berlin 2011 it was chosen that they will be held in the Sony-Center.
